Fresh Berries with Amaretto Cream Sauce

The use of fresh strawberries and amaretto makes this dessert irresistible!

Servings: 4
Prep and cook time: 15 minutes

Ingredients:

Sauce
1/4 cup amaretto liqueur
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1 cup whipping cream
1/4 to 1/2 cup sugar

Fruit
3/4 pound ripe strawberries, cleaned, hulled and cut in half
1/2 cup raspberries
1/2 cup blueberries
Mint and edible winter pansies for garnish

Method:

In a small saucepan, combine the amaretto with the cornstarch, stirring until smooth with a wooden spoon. Cook over medium heat, stirring often, just until bubbles appear; gradually stir in the amaretto mixture. Bring to a boil over medium heat, and keep boiling constantly for about 30 seconds. Remove from the heat; stir in the sugar and let cool to room temperature.

Spoon the strawberries into individual fruit cups. Pour some of the cream over the berries. Then add the raspberries and blueberries and more sauce and top with mint and an edible winter pansy.
